Co-Exist Bristol

80 Hamilton House - perhaps not the most beautiful part of Bristol being in Stokes Croft, what was formally a hotbed for creative drug-taking talent - eyeballs, toes and all that. Whatever, the area has been busy over the past few years with The Croft hosting plenty of great gigs (14 a week) including lots of local bands and massive acts like Kode 9 and those Arctic Monkey chaps as well.

Around the corner, Here Gallery has some beautiful zines, prints and books that will make you broke if you step inside the shop. My advice is don't go in.

But 80 Hamilton House hosts Co-Exist, set up in 2008 as a centre to welcome creative innovation, and perhaps most importantly the aspect of community and working together. As one of the guys who runs it said, you can put a record out there, find someone to do the artwork, find someone to promote a night and someone else to help produce the record. It's a ready-made network of like-minded people who want to work and create, and in the current climate this can only be a good thing.

The Canteen is a kitchen area on the ground floor of the building that not surprisingly hosts a kitchen that looked really busy and tasty, but also has gigs there throughout the week.

If you're out Bristol way, check in to Co-Exist.
